Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has described joining up with the Scotland squad as a “no-brainer”, amid complaints aimed at fellow stars pulling out.

The Rangers star spoke to the media as the national side prepare for the challenge of Kazakhstan and Cyprus in the coming days.

Fresh-faced and excited at the prospect of playing for his country, more than bemoan the players who’ve pulled out of the Scotland squad, Jack believes it’s an opportunity for him to impress.

“If you’re fully fit and you get called up then, talking for myself it’s a no-brainer that you want to come away and you want to play,” said Jack.

“But as I’ve said before some players play 50, 60 games a season at a very competitive level and 2, 3 games a week and sometimes your body can’t cope with that.

“I’ve had a knee injury, so I know how it feels, but if you get selected then there’s no doubt that everyone who comes along is 100% committed.

“I think these next two games are a chance for players like myself to try and stake a claim going forward.

“It’s one thing I am passionate about. I am passionate about being involved with my country and playing well for my country and going forward hopefully we can achieve something.”

The Rangers midfielder spoke fantastically well as Scotland head into two matches which will have no bearing on their qualification for Euro 2020.

But Jack is determined to make a go of it with his country and he deserves every credit for his commitment and attitude to doing so.

It wasn’t the only difficult line of questioning Jack faced as he previewed the doubleheader.
