Former Rangers director of football operations Creag Robertson is set for a reunion with ex-Ibrox CEO James Bisgrove in Saudi Arabia.

Creag Robertson left Rangers at the beginning of October as the Gers underwent a substantial overhaul of the club’s executive team.

But only a few months on from vacating Ibrox, Creag Robertson looks set to return to the beautiful game after being appointed at Saudi club Al-Qadsiah.

This is the same club which James Bisgrove joined as CEO in the summer, leaving Rangers to pick up the pieces of the botched Copland Stand development.

Creag Robertson moves to Saudi Arabia

Creag Robertson has updated his LinkedIn profile to include the title of head of football operations at Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah.

This means Robertson has now joined Bisgrove in the Middle East with both now working towards leaving an imprint in Saudi Arabia ahead of the 2034 World Cup.

Robertson had been in a similar role at Rangers for 18 months before leaving the club in October, having been promoted to the role under John Bennett in 2023.

Rangers have since undergone a sizeable structural evolution at the top of the club, with ex-Man United chief Patrick Stewart starting work as CEO last week.

Rangers have also appointed Fraser Thornton as non-executive chairman, whilst Nils Koppen has assumed many of Robertson’s responsibilities in a new technical director role.

Rangers thanked director for his service

The exit of Creag Robertson from Rangers had been confirmed by interim chairman John Gilligan back in October.

Gilligan, who remains one of the biggest shareholders and investors at Rangers, was asked to steady the ship after John Bennett stepped down for health reasons.

John Gilligan also used the opportunity to insist that Rangers are not a club without leadership and wished Robertson all the best in his future endeavours.

β€œI can confirm Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson will leave in the coming weeks to pursue new opportunities,” Gilligan told the Rangers website.

”We must thank Creag for his contribution in several roles since he joined the club in 2016 and we wish him well in his future endeavours.Β

”With Creag moving on, I have seen some reports of the club being without leadership.

β€œI can assure you that is not the case with George Letham and myself, who have deep knowledge of business and our great club, working tirelessly alongside our executive management team to continue to drive the club forward.”
