Rangers retail partners Castore are set to open a new store in Glasgow city centre which will bring with it 20 new jobs.

Since then the retailer has gone on to revamp the club’s retail operations, taking over after a period of tumultuous retail operations at Ibrox.

Gers fans had previously boycotted the club’s retail releases due to a poorly weighted retail deal with Sports Direct and Mike Ashley signed by the previous regime.

Castore have since helped to re-establish the club’s retail operations, opening four Rangers stores at Ibrox, in Glasgow and Belfast city centres and Glasgow Airport.

The retailer has also seen a record-breaking period of kit sales at the Ibrox club, with the Gers selling over 250k home kits between May and the new season [Rangers].

According to the Herald, the store will be opened at 133 Buchanan St and is in addition to the club’s partnership with Rangers.

The store will offer a range of exclusive Castore products but that report claims this will also include a range of “exclusive” Rangers FC products.

“It’s fantastic to be launching our first own brand store in Glasgow,” said Tom Beahon, one of Castore’s co-founders.

“We already feel at home at the city thanks to the brilliant Rangers FC fans and it’s great to be able to offer our full range to meet both sporting and lifestyle needs.

“With the store due to open in early September, we’re looking forward to onboarding our new colleagues and bringing our mission of ‘Better Never Stops’ to the city.”

Whilst the retail partnership with Castore has been successful in terms of the implications to the club’s finances, it’s not been without its issues.

Rangers fans were sympathetic to a Premier League club’s support after a release from the now Manchester-based retailer.
