Rangers have sent a touching tribute on the anniversary of former player and footballing legend Ray Wilkins’ death.
One year ago the passing of “Butch” rocked the footballing world, and not just because of his contribution on the pitch.
The former Chelsea, Manchester United and England midfielder was a giant of a man off the field too. And Rangers fans have never forgotten his contribution to the club for the short time he was at Ibrox.

The touching video plays tribute to a man who was a superb ambassador for Rangers long after he’d left the club.
He described Rangers as a “great football club” and always held the support close to his heart. Perhaps best remembered for “that” volley, Ray Wilkins inspired Rangers to a 5-1 trouncing of Celtic at Ibrox.
He played for Rangers for two seasons between 1987 and 1999, joining the club from Paris St. Germain. He had moved to France from AC Milan in Italy.
Wilkins also played for QPR, Crystal Palace, Hibs, Millwall and Leyton Orient in an illustrious career where he also gained 84 caps for his country.

He eventually moved into coaching where he managed QPR, Fulham and Jordan. He also had successful spells as assistant manager at Chelsea, Watford, Millwall, Fulham and Aston Villa.

With this touching tribute, Rangers aim to remember the midfielder in the same way he did with us. Fondly, and with a lot of pride.
Rangers were also recently celebrating the life of another club legend who sadly passed away last month.
