Rangers quietly ditch off field milestone and prove pressure mounting with fed up fans

Rangers have been quiet since the defeat to Aberdeen in mid-week, other than post-match interviews with Philippe Clement and Cyriel Dessers, it has been radio silence.

The squad has been written off and the manager is under increasing pressure with the lack of a proper football structure above him probably the only reason he still sits in the Ibrox hot seat.

Clement isn’t the only man feeling the heat at Rangers with James Tavernier conspicuous by his absence as the club take a wise social media decision for once.

Rangers dodge James Tavernier birthday wishes attention

Usually, the skipper is front and centre in defeat, repeating the same old lines that fans have grown sick and tired of since returning to the top flight.

Not only did he not do any post-match interviews after Aberdeen, Rangers have ignored the club captain’s 33rd birthday passing on the 31st of October too.

In the same month; Kieran Dowell, Vaclav Cerny, Ianis Hagi, Dujon Sterling and Hall of Fame legend Ian Durrant, have all had best wishes from Rangers.

Mohamed Diomande appears to have been caught in the crossfire too with Rangers missing his 23rd birthday on the 30th, a day in which he had to watch his teammates struggle to make anything happen for 90 minutes from the bench.

Do Rangers need to move on from James Tavernier?

No Rangers captain has seen Celtic lift more trophies or won fewer trophies over a similar period wearing the armband.

Despite all the individual accolades and awards, those are the statistics that matter, even with his own name below Durrant’s on the walls within Ibrox.

It was a summer of reset and rebuild and Tavernier seemed certain to leave, however, he dug his heels in and has seen his form questioned since the first whistle of the season.

With two younger, more dynamic defenders in Dujon Sterling and Neraysho Kasanwirjo waiting to take his place, Clement has a decision to make, before one is made for him.
