Rangers boss Michael Beale has provided a positive update on Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent as the conversation continues around the pair’s Ibrox contracts.

Both players are essential members of the Ibrox first-team and Michael Beale has not been shy in telling the press that he wants the club to renew their contracts come the summer.

But it’s clear this is a decision which lies in the courts of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, who are now becoming the regular subject of discussion in Beale’s press conferences.

Only this week was the Rangers boss telling the pair to leave Ibrox through the front door, irregardless if they leave in the summer or not, with the tone of that message being taken negatively.

Michael Beale “more confident” of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent deals

In contrast Michael Beale has now provided a positive Morelos Kent Rangers update as he claims he is “more confident” of securing deals for both players than he was when he took on the job.

“The talks are ongoing,” said Beale [Rangers].

“The club know my feeling on it. The players and their representatives are talking. I think the way this club ends the season will determine everything for more than just those players. There’s a lot to play for at this moment.

“We know the emotions in this city based on where you finish and whether you hold a trophy above your head between now and the end of the season.

“I think that has a big part to play in terms of the makeup of our squad next year. Certainly, any comments I have made recently are not to suggest I’m less confident, if anything, I’m more confident today.

“The talks have been ongoing all of the time. What I try to do is give them room to breathe a little bit. We have had to win every game that’s in front of us both in the league and the cup competitions and we have a cup final coming up.

“We have a big away game at the weekend. Now is not the time for me to be giving any ultimatums. We have to focus on what’s in front of us and if we do well it makes everything easier.

“I think they are playing better now. If the team is winning and everyone is playing well, everything feels nice in the world. We know that it can change in 90 minutes so it’s important we keep focused on the games.”

Meanwhile, here’s an update on Tom Lawrence as he tries to recover from injury.
