Philippe Clement claims Rangers will be appealing the red card shown to Mohamed Diomande in the win over Dundee United.
The Rangers manager was speaking to Sky Sports after the match and gave an instant reaction to the controversial injury time decision.
Referee Nick Walsh had shown Mohamed Diomande a red card after blowing for a foul on the midfielder by Dundee United defender Kevin Holt.
Clement claims that not only was the ‘incredible’ red card decision incorrect, but that Mohamed Diomande was actually ‘attacked’ by the Dundee United star at Tannadice.
Rangers to launch Mohamed Diomande appeal
Speaking after the match, Philippe Clement claims he’s already seen the incident back and that Rangers will be appealing to the SFA.
The Rangers manager also questioned the call and insists he doesn’t ‘understand’ why Diomande was shown red.
The incident also drew the ire of ex-Rangers striker Kris Boyd who branded the decision ‘embarrassing’ at full-time.
”I’ve saw it back now because I knew this question was coming,” Clement told Sky Sports.
”I totally don’t understand. We’re going to appeal it also as a club.
”The VAR was clearly also in that opinion otherwise they don’t ask the referee to come to the screen.
”OK, my opinion is clearly it’s totally not a red card.
”If that’s a red card then every game there will be three, four, five red cards and I think my player gets attacked in that moment.
”He gets pushed and he has small reaction with his hand without even touching the opponent.
”They can have both maximum yellow but giving a red card for that, yeah, that’s incredible.”

Philippe Clement ‘pleased’ with Rangers win v Dundee United
Philippe Clement was also full of praise for his Rangers team after the impressive 3-1 victory over Dundee United.
Sam Dalby had given the Arabs a deserved first-half lead before a Mohamed Diomande stunner hauled the Gers back into the game.
Second half goals from Robin Propper and Cyriel Dessers ensured a deserved Rangers victory and Clement paid tribute to his team at full-time.
”Very pleased,” said Clement when asked about the win and performance.
”A lot of people have been talking about the team and our away performances and indeed, we didn’t take enough points.
”We come to probably one of the toughest places for the moment to play because Dundee United are doing a really good job.
”They deserve to be in 3rd position, clearly what they’ve been doing the last months.
”So it’s an important win and also the way we had the win, for sure in the second half.“
Rangers come from behind at Dundee United
The win at Tannadice was also the first time Rangers have come from behind to win in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Rangers have also now won four away games out of 12 and Clement insists this is a sign of development in his young team.
”For sure a development and improvement in the squad,” said Clement.
”Also missing ten players today so it’s a major (thing) to win this game, also short after an away game at Manchester United what cost a lot of power.
”But you see the team is growing and getting better and they played a very mature second half and deserved to win the game because of that.”
