Rangers’ upcoming Scottish Premiership fixture away to Ross County in Dingwall has been rearranged after the Ibrox side crashed out of the Champions League.

The Gers have dropped into the Europa League Playoff as a result of the 4-2 aggregate exit at the hands of Swedish Champions Malmo.

This means the Ibrox club face a trip to either Armenia or Kazakhstan to reach the group stages of that competition with Alashkert hosting Kairat Almaty in QR3 of the competition this week.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Kazakhstan.

The first leg of this clash will be played on Thursday 19th of August at Ibrox with the Gers originally scheduled to face Ross County on Saturday the 21st.

However, the SPFL have confirmed that the date of this fixture has now been moved to Sunday the 22nd of August at 3pm.

Rangers will potentially join Old Firm rivals Celtic – who crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers to FC Midtjylland – Hibs, Aberdeen and St Johnstone in playing European football on Thursday evenings.

Both Celtic and St Johnstone are in Europa League QR3 action this week whilst Aberdeen and Hibs are hoping to make the Playoffs of the inaugural Europa Conference League.

The rearranged fixture list is just one of many ramifications for Rangers in the aftermath of the club’s crushing Champions League exit.

The return leg of that aforementioned trip to the corner of Asia is also set to come at the most inopportune of times.
