Rangers are reportedly battling Premier League outfit Leeds United to sign a player who has been compared to a £34m Liverpool superstar.

“Blisteringly quick” Colombian forward Santiago Moreno has been linked with a move to Ibrox by Football Insider who insist the Gers are tracking the explosive front man.

Only 21, Moreno has impressed at Colombian side America de Cali this season and is apparently available for £5m with his appearances in the Copa Libertadores meaning a work permit would be no issue.

In 22 games so far this season, Moreno has netted five goals and laid on a further four assists and FI link the interest to ongoing exit reports surrounding Ianis Hagi.

Rangers Young Player of the Year Hagi, 22, has been linked to a host of clubs around Europe’s top leagues with a high-profile Romanian football figure claiming he has a €10m release clause.

According to Football Insider, Moreno has been likened to Liverpool star Sadio Mane in the past with the Anfield club paying £34m to sign the Senegalese forward in 2016 [BBC Sport].
