Rangers Predicted XI vs Slavia Prague as major Euro achievement eyed

Rangers are eyeing a major achievement ahead of their Europa League Last 16 second-leg clash against Slavia Prague on Thursday night.

After a 1-1 draw in the Czech capital last week, they know that a 0-0 draw at Ibrox or a victory by any scoreline would be enough to see them through the quarter-finals for the first time under Steven Gerrard.

It would also be the deepest the Gers have gone in European competition since they made the final of the old UEFA Cup in 2008.

With a substantial cash reward on offer, too, there’s plenty at stake and the manager may go for a slightly more conservative XI than the one that started in Prague.

Allan McGregor will be named between the sticks, while Nathan Patterson should continue to deputise for the injured James Tavernier at right-back, with Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Borna Barisic completing the back four.

In midfield, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara are set to keep their spots but Canada international Scott Arfield could be drafted in to join them, with Joe Aribo pushing up to a more advanced role.

A move to the right inside forward position for the Nigeria star would see Ianis Hagi drop to the bench, with Ryant Kent and Alfredo Morelos near-certain picks on the left and up top, respectively.
