Rangers Predicted XI for Premiership clash against Livingston

Rangers take on Livingston in the league on Sunday, and ahead of the game, Steven Gerrard has hinted that he’s likely to freshen up his starting XI [Rangers.co.uk].

Livi come into the fixture having failed to win any of their last four, but they defeated Celtic at the Tony Macaroni Arena in early October and humbled the Gers in West Lothian last season. Therefore, no one in Light Blue should be underestimating this opposition.

How will Rangers line up?

It’s unlikely that there will be any changes in the back four, considering how solid the defence has been recently.

Rangers have kept clean sheets in their previous three outings, with the partnership between Connor Goldson and Filip Helander seemingly blossoming.

In midfield, we foresee one change.

The trio of Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara fared brilliantly against Porto, but Finnish international Kamara could drop out for this one. Recalling Joe Aribo would bring fresh legs and greater creativity against Gary Holt’s stubborn troops.

Up top, Alfredo Morelos is likely to remain in the team given his blistering recent run of form. He has nine goals in his last nine games and is likely to be key once again in this one.

However, it’s likely that there will be changes to his support act.

Ryan Kent has looked very lively recently, but played 83 minutes on Thursday night and given that he’s talked about the club’s desire to ease him back in following a hamstring injury [Daily Record], it would be no great surprise to see him drop to the bench.

With Jordan Jones not yet fully fit, Sheyi Ojo is his most likely replacement. The Liverpool loanee has divided opinion amongst the fans so far. He’s received both praise and criticism in abundance but should get another chance to show what he has to offer here.

On the right side, Brandon Barker struggled against Porto and was hooked after 65 minutes. It’s likely between Scott Arfield and Greg Stewart to replace him, but we’re plucking for the latter.

He hasn’t been a regular fixture in the XI, but when he has played he’s demonstrated the kind of subtlety that may be needed to unlock the Livi defence.
