Rangers have now started to confirm the Ibrox club’s pre-season friendlies for 2023. So here is everything you need to know about Michael Beale’s summer plans for the Glasgow giants.
The Premiership outfit are embarking on their first off-season period with Beale at the helm. He returned to Ibrox in November to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Rangers’ manager after one year away. Beale had previously stood beside Steven Gerrard in the home dugout.
Beale will now hope having a full pre-season with Rangers will see him take the Gers back to Premiership glory. It will also let those on the fringes of Rangers’ first-team squad show their worth. So, here is everything you need to know about Rangers’ 2023 pre-season friendlies…

When does Rangers’ pre-season start?
Beale regrouped his Gers team at the Rangers Training Centre on July 1 to start the Glasgow giant’s pre-season training. It gave Rangers two weeks before their first friendly on July 18.
Van Bronckhorst instructed the Rangers squad to reconvene on June 27 in 2022 to start pre-season training. The Gers regrouped early on the back of making the Europa League final as their first game fell on July 2. They had a behind-closed-doors friendly with Partick Thistle.

As of July 14, Rangers have announced five friendlies for their pre-season plans in 2023. The Gers will welcome Newcastle United and Hamburger SV to Ibrox throughout July as the club celebrates two grand occasions. The Magpies’ visit is for Allan McGregor’s testimonial game.
Beale’s side began their summer schedule with a 2-0 win over Hallescher FC to conclude the Gers’ pre-season training camp in Germany. Rangers fielded separate line-ups in each half with five of Rangers’ summer signings given minutes while they adapt to the Glasgow giants.
Rangers will celebrate the storied career McGregor has enjoyed with the club at home to the Toon on July 18. The Gers will also donate a percentage of the proceeds from the meeting to charities the modern-day Rangers legend, who lifted 13 titles over his two spells, nominates.
Hamburger SV will later travel to Glasgow on July 22 to celebrate the official partnership and long-standing relationship between the clubs. The two teams forged links in 1970 and played their first friendly that year, as well. Their two cities, Hamburg and Glasgow, also enjoy links.
Ibrox will also play host to Olympiacos on July 26 after Rangers confirmed the Greek club as their third pre-season friendly for 2023. Beale has planned the fixture as a tough test for his players before the 23/24 season. It is also the first time that Rangers have faced Olympiacos.
TSG Hoffenheim also joined Rangers’ pre-season plans on June 9 with a fixture scheduled for July 29 in Germany. The Gers will visit the Bundesliga side’s Rhein-Neckar-Arena for their final friendly of the year. It will also take place one week before the new Premiership season.
