Rangers PR machine whirls in impressive STAYC Ibrox response

Korean girl group STAYC made a surprise visit to Ibrox Stadium to greet fans after images of them wearing retro Rangers kits went viral last month.

The K-Pop sensations turned heads when they wore classic 90s Rangers kits whilst on tour in Dallas, TX back in October but there appeared to be a mix-up.

STAYC had originally hoped to don jerseys of local baseball side the Dallas Rangers with the mix-up generating headlines across the globe.

Rangers – now led by former marketing guru James Bisgrove as CEO – showed they were no slouches with the club’s PR machine jumping on a golden opportunity with STAYC.

With the Korean girl group coming to the UK to play in London at Korea on Stage on Wednesday 8th November, they made a quick stop off in Glasgow.

Korean girl group STAYC visit Rangers

Both parties have enjoyed a fair bit of exposure as a result of the story and Rangers and STAYC have once again come together to continue writing it at Ibrox.

Rangers took the Korean girl group on a stadium tour with STAYC posing in Gers jerseys alongside Broxi Bear before eventually addressing an impressive little crowd at New Edmiston House.

Announcing “we love Rangers”, not only did the entire thing tie a pretty little bow on what is a nice story which has generated a lot of attention, but it’s quite simply superb marketing.

In a kind of K-Pop/football crossover, Rangers have taken the lead of their creative CEO James Bisgrove’s keen eye for a partnership to fill column inches for all the right reasons.

Not only that, but STAYC get substantial exposure to an audience they’d otherwise be all but invisible to and Rangers make headlines from sunny Govan to Seoul.

It’s an impressive response and shows just how alert the Rangers hierarchy are to the right opportunities with STAYC now ready to resume their Teenfresh World Tour.

Whilst we don’t suspect there will be many Rangers fans donning STAYC t-shirts when the Korean girl group play in London on Wednesday, kudos to everyone involved for making the link-up happen.
