Rangers player Jordan Jones slammed by Sky Sports commentators

Rangers’ defeat to Celtic on Sunday afternoon was limp at best.

Bears highlighted issues with the starting XI before the game and didn’t pull any punches in their criticism of the manager after it, either.

Second best in all departments, the Gers were too passive in defence, poor in possession and lacking in creativity in the final third.

Overall, it was a shocker of a display only made worse by a red card in the final stages.

Shortly after Jonny Hayes had made it 2-0, Jordan Jones decided to take his frustration out on new Celtic loan signing Moritz Bauer.

He flew in with intent and scythed down the Austrian as Celtic broke down the right. It was late and fairly high, prompting Bobby Madden, to brandish a red card.

The Sky Sports commentary team certainly weren’t impressed by his act either. Ian Crocker described the challenge as ‘plain stupid’, with co-commentator Andy Walker labelling it ‘outrageous.’

In fairness, there were few complaints from Jones when he received his marching orders. Perhaps frustrated at being left on the bench for his first Old Firm and then at not being able to find an equaliser following his introduction, the red mist descended for the Northern Ireland international.

Steven Gerrard shook his head on the touchline, while Jones, who appeared to be in discomfort following the tackle, limped from the field.

All involved with the first team will be left stewing over their actions on Derby Day. However, the ex-Kilmarnock man will likely feel more regret than most.

That’s because, after the international break, he’ll be forced to observe a suspension from league action, thereby temporarily surrendering his jersey to his competition.
