Rangers player Brandon Barker responded brilliantly after a fan sent him a cheeky request via Instagram on Wednesday.

Barker joined the Gers in the summer of 2019 from Manchester City and hasn’t quite made the on-field impact he would have hoped for as yet.

He’s made just 26 appearances, scoring three goals, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Oxford United.

The Englishman is soon due to report back to Auchenhowie for pre-season but while he’s contracted until the end of the 2021/22 campaign, his future is uncertain.

Several other wingers, including Jordan Jones, Glenn Middleton and Jake Hastie are all returning from loans at the same time and it remains to be seen who Steven Gerrard will look to bring back into the fold and who will be made available for transfer.

He’s certainly receiving plenty of off-field praise from fans right now, though, after a remarkably generous act in response to a fan request.

On Wednesday evening, Gers supporter @MatthewBlyth20 tweeted a pair of images with the caption ‘lifetime contract please @RangersFC @BrandonBarker96’.

The first image was a screenshot of an Instagram message chat with Barker.

It shows that he had previously replied to a message from the fan about Connor Goldson and then that the supporter had – months later and completely out of the blue – asked the Gers winger to order a round of drinks at a Glasgow bar for him and his friends via an online app.

Incredibly, Barker delivered, with the second image showing a tray containing eight drinks paid for by the 24-year-old.

Unsurprisingly, the post went down well on Twitter, racking up thousands of likes, with scores of Bears praising the act of generosity.

Barker may have some impressing to do when he gets back out on the grass but it’s fair to say that he already has plenty of fans on his side ahead of pre-season.
