Rangers have been welcomed to make a move for Steve Bruce as a replacement for Michael Beale in the Ibrox dugout.

Here we are again; Rangers are back in the hunt for a new manager.

Michael Beale was sacked on Sunday night, less than a year since coming in as a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Results just weren’t good enough and Rangers have decided to make another change ahead of the international break.

Steve Bruce ‘put forward’ to Rangers

A host of names have been linked with Rangers but few fans could have expected rumours surrounding Steve Bruce.

Football Scotland now report that Bruce has been ‘put forward’ to the Rangers board as a potential Beale successor.

It’s suggested that Rangers are unlikely to jump at the chance to land Bruce but he remains keen on the Ibrox job.

Bruce has been out of work since being sacked by West Bromwich Albion almost a year ago.

The 62-year-old’s agents appear to have seen the vacancy at Ibrox and are offering Rangers the chance to make a move – even if that seems very unlikely.

Bruce is not the answer for Rangers

Bruce has vast experience under his belt having been a manager for 25 years now.

Bruce has managed 11 clubs in that time and all of them have come in England, so maybe he fancies trying something different in Scotland.

It’s just hard to see Rangers feeling that Bruce is the answer to the current issues.

Bruce’s last two jobs have shown a fairly dull style of play with Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion fans left frustrated with the football on offer.

Eight wins in 32 at West Brom, who always have a strong squad for the Championship, just isn’t good enough and that’s why he was sacked.

Rangers will appreciate the interest in the job but surely won’t even consider Bruce as a top candidate for the job with other contenders either having history of winning trophies – such as Kevin Muscat or Philippe Clement – or have shown exciting football, like Pascal Jansen.

Bruce just doesn’t tick either box for Rangers and we can’t see him being in the running for the job.
