Rangers have moved quickly to replace Michael Beale and it looks as though, in Philippe Clement, that they have found their man.
A report from Saudi Arabia has claimed that the Belgian is the preferred choice in the two-horse race with Kevin Muscat but if he accepts and isn’t a success, it’s going to cost us.
According to Al-Riyadiah, Rangers have offered a contract to Philippe Clement and one that shows the board are backing him long term.

Rangers make contract offer to Philippe Clement
It looked as though James Bisgrove had missed out on the 49-year old when it emerged that Al-Shabab had offered their vacant manager’s job to the former Monaco boss.
As explained in the report though, a four-year deal and a package laden with incentives, should he succeed at Rangers, looks to have turned Philippe Clement’s head:
“The contract includes many temptations and privileges for the coach if the team wins the league, cup and super championships and qualifies for the Champions League.
“The Scottish club’s management placed a condition in the contract stipulating that the contract would not be terminated by one party except by obtaining the full value of the contract.”

As a multiple league and cup winner in Belgium, Clement has a proven track record of success and of competing in European competition.
Not only this, but he has a style of play that is attack minded and exciting, with Nicolas Raskin giving his fellow Belgian the seal of approval.
The contract, if accurate, does tell a story though.
It looks as though there is going to be a long-term plan because, after sacking Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale, the last thing we need is to be shelling out millions again on a new management team this time next year.
Hopefully, finally, they’ve got it right.
