Rangers are left thinking what might’ve been as once Ibrox-linked VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy is named the “star” of the Bundesliga season so far.
Back in 2019, reports in the Courrier Picard suggested Rangers were watching the Guinean forward heading into the January window of 2020.
Then of Amiens in Ligue 1, Serhou Guirassy had only just joined the French club from German side Koln for a fee in the region of £5m.
But that would prove to be chump change as Rangers were gazumped by Ligue 1 side Rennes, who plumped up a reported £13.5m (€15m) to sign the striker the following summer.
After another two years in France, Serhou Guirassy moved back to Germany with VfB Stuttgart at the beginning of last season, initially signing a loan deal with the club.
An impressive eleven goals in 22 Bundesliga games followed and the German side activated an £8m (€9m) contract option to make the deal permanent – and they’ll be very glad they did.

Serhou Guirassy the “star” of the Bundesliga season
Starting this season on quite remarkable form, Serhou Guirassy has scored 10 goals in 5 Bundesliga games for VfB Stuttgart this season with the club now 2nd in the table.
Starting the season with a brace against VfL Bochum, the forward hasn’t looked back, netting in the 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart before inspiring wins over Freiburg, where he scored a brace, Mainz, where Guirassy netted a hat-trickm and most recently Darmstadt, where the striker scored two and created another in a 3-1 win.
Now 27-years-old, it appears Serhou Guirassy is coming into his prime with the French-born forward’s remarkable record overshadowing the contributions of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.

The striker’s stunning form has even led to journalist Derek Rae describing him as “the attacking star of the Bundesliga season so far”.
Rangers are almost certainly priced out of any move for the striker now and as fans mull over those historic Serhou Guirassy links, we don’t blame you for thinking what might’ve been.
