Rangers must use Europa League comeback to reignite domestic form

As the dust settles on a special Europa League comeback for Rangers attention will quickly turn back to domestic duty for the trip to St. Johnstone.

Rangers have shown stumbling form at the start of 2020 and the Ibrox support was waiting for the club’s players to stand up and put in a performance resembling their early season form.

Against Braga, Rangers showed grit, character and determination to turn the European tie around at 2-0, but can it be a catalyst for turning things around on home soil?

Since the turn of the year, the Ibrox side has dropped points in three matches, losing twice on the road against Hearts and Kilmarnock and stumbling to a draw against Aberdeen at home.

But taking the confidence from a resurgent second-half performance against the on-form Portuguese side, Rangers have an opportunity to reignite their domestic season.

Whilst the club are waiting on Old Firm rivals Celtic to show their hand, such an emphatic comeback can act as a springboard to keeping the pressure on our Eastend rivals.

For the last month or so we’ve been crying out for Steven Gerrard’s side to show a commitment that hasn’t once been in question from those paying supporters in the stands.

Coming back from 2-0 against one of the form teams in Europe and a rejuvenated side which was yet to lose under its new manager proves this team and squad have it in them.

Rangers must use the inspiring turnaround against Braga as motivation to turn their own domestic form around as we enter the final few months of the season.
