Rangers must use arrogant Celtic comments as title race inspiration

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has claimed that his side’s win against Hamilton is a huge boost “psychologically” in the title battle with Rangers.

Celtic’s 4-1 win over Hamilton – which came amid some dubious refereeing – sends our Old Firm rivals seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Should Rangers win their game in hand it chops their lead to four, but Lennon’s already beginning to get pretty arrogant about Celtic’s lead at the top.

“Psychologically, it’s good,” said Lennon [Scotsman].

“I’m thinking it’s four points rather than seven as I’m assuming the opposition will win their game in hand. But it’s the first buffer we’ve had for a while.

“I wasn’t happy with the first half and losing a goal from a set play is disappointing. But the reaction of the players was very good.

“I’m proud of them and the momentum we have built at the start of the year is fantastic.”

There are a few jibes in there aimed in the direction of Rangers with the Ibrox side’s mentality, quite rightly, brought into question in recent weeks.

Rangers have dropped five points in three Scottish Premiership games and can ill-afford any more slip-ups if they’re to seriously challenge Celtic for the title this year.

Lennon might gloat about his lead at the top of the table, but the momentum can easily swing in one match.

These Rangers players have got to look at these sorts of comments and answer the jibes being handed out.

You want to unsettle Lennon and Celtic? Then claw back some of the space that we’ve handed them in the last few weeks.
