Glen Kamara’s deal with Rangers kicks into effect at the end of the season, but the club should push through the deal now.
That’s because, according to the Daily Express, the new-man will be a direct replacement for Lassana Coulibaly.
The Dundee star is one of the tidiest midfielders in the country, and has impressed during his year-and-a-half stint at Dens Park. He was particularly impressive in the 1-1 draw between the Dee and Rangers last month.
He has plenty to work on, including his end-product (he has just five assists in 59 Dundee appearances). But, in the long-term, this could be an extremely shrewd signing for Steven Gerrard.

The problem is, that means Rangers are now going to be relying on a player they no longer want at Ibrox. Coulibaly has appeared on 25 occasions for the Gers this season, and been inconsistent.
Supporters have grown frustrated at his lack of improvement since returning from injury back in September. Since then, it’s been a roller-coaster of emotions for the Mali star.
If Kamara is an upgrade on Coulibaly, bring him in now
And if Gerrard has decided that he isn’t good enough for a return next season, then Kamara must be brought in now.
The Rangers manager clearly sees the Dundee man as a better player than his own midfielder. Considering the club have already secured him on a pre-contract agreement, they could snap him up for an extremely low fee.
Of course, that would depend on whether Dundee are willing to accept the money. They are in a perilous position at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. Jim McIntyre, therefore, may not want to lose Kamara until his side are guaranteed safety.

Rangers, however, have to test the waters. There’s simply no point in persisting with Coulibaly if he isn’t part of Rangers’ long-term plans. Considering he also isn’t adding anything of real value to the club, you have to wonder what makes him worth keeping around.
If Rangers have the money to do a deal, getting Kamara in now is a wise choice. The player could do with bedding in ahead of another huge season next year. And if he’s an upgrade on Coulibaly, then why wait?
It’s over to you Rangers. Is this deal worth getting over the line now? We’re struggling for reasons why it isn’t.
