Fresh reports have emerged claiming Rangers captain James Tavernier is the main target of new Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce.
The Daily Record is claiming that the marauding full-back “tops the Newcastle transfer wishlist” as the former Sunderland boss looks to win over the Toon army.
But with Magpies owner Mike Ashley’s merchandising vice grip still suffocating the Ibrox club, Rangers should categorically refuse to deal with Newcastle United.

Unless of course, the Northerners were willing to part with an excessive fee for a player who is arguably Rangers most influential and important.
For me, James Tavernier’s contribution last season alone puts him around the £15m mark for Rangers and anything less would be a slap in the face.
But even if the tight-fisted Ashley felt like coughing up that amount, Rangers should refrain from dealing with him.
The Ibrox club is still embroiled in a High Court legal dispute over merchandising with Newcastle.
After the latest reported judgments, they threaten to rumble on for quite a while longer too.
The notion that our club would deal with Ashley again, even in a footballing sense, is enough to boil the blood of the Ibrox faithful.

Unless Rangers are willing to hold Newcastle to an obscene £20m+ ransom, then Newcastle United, Steve Bruce and Mike Ashley can forget about signing our captain.
Either that or the club should completely disregard conducting any business with Ashley ever again.
