As Kyle Lafferty leaves Rangers by mutual consent [Rangers.co.uk], there’s an alarming transfer pattern beginning at Rangers with regards transfer fees.
The lanky Northern Irishman joins a list of 10 players who have exited Ibrox this summer.
Out of that number, only two, Daniel Candeias and Ryan Hardie, have recouped Rangers transfer fees. And it’s not like they’ve left for considerable amounts either.
Candeias, albeit in the last year of his contract, joined Turkish side Gençlerbirliği for a reported fee of £250k.
Hardie’s undisclosed fee is unlikely to be an amount the club would be expecting to move their Academy talent on for either.
Ross McCrorie and Jordan Rossiter probably represent development loans, whilst expensive flop Eduardo Herrera has renewed a loan deal at Nexaca and Jak Alnwick has moved to Blackpool on a year-long move.
Lee Wallace, Gareth McAuley and Lee Hodson have moved after their contracts with the club expired.

Even the season before, Joe Garner, Martyn Waghorn and Barrie McKay were moved on for cut-price fees as Pedro Caixinha culled Mark Warburton’s squad.
Indeed, only Josh Windass (£2.5m) and Declan John (£800k) have moved on for anything resembling their value in the last few seasons.
The solution to this is simple. Rangers must stop shelling out on players who will not make us close to their transfer cost upon resale or contribute enough to the club to justify their transfer fees.
There’s little doubt that the club has turned a corner in terms of getting value into Ibrox for bargain fees. The transfers of Alfredo Morelos (£1m), Glen Kamara (£50k) and Joe Aribo (
£300k) particularly stand out.
But it is indicative of the transfer problems the club has had over the last few years that we are struggling to offload players at even a cut-price percentage of their transfer cost to us.
We simply must begin to get value from players coming into the club, and those leaving, from here on in.
We cannot keep shelling out for players if we cannot sell them on.
Perhaps we can begin by getting close to the £2m we paid for Eros Grezda [Scotsman] in this window.
