After the Scottish Cup tossed up a Quarter Final trip to Aberdeen for either Rangers or Kilmarnock, it’s pretty tempting to have one eye on Pittodrie.

Rangers have, after all, just played out a thriller in the North East recently.

But before we can start talking about any cup away days to the Dons, we have a huge match with Killie first. Even if one national newspaper is already running stories about safety fears should we make it through. And it’s not exactly a given we’ll dump the Ayrshire outfit at Ibrox either.

Especially when you consider Kilmarnock held us to a 1-1 draw at Ibrox in the league earlier in the season. They also beat us 2-1 at Rugby Park (sorry to bring that up again) and just held us to a 0-0 draw on Saturday night.

We can take solace in the fact we’ve beaten them once already in cup competition this season. A 3-1 scolding in the League Cup in early season thanks to a Morelos hattrick.

The Colombian will once again be available for this one after serving a ban for a controversial run-in the last time we visited Aberdeen.

There’s no doubt that if he and Rangers are on their game then we’ll have too much for Killie.

But we have got to show up in our Scottish Cup replay and can’t go through the motions. Whilst a trip to Pittodrie is an exciting prospect, we’re not even in the hat yet.

We can begin to discuss any issues surrounding ticket allocations and safety fears as and when we are. And not a moment sooner.
