The Dominic Solanke transfer saga rumbled on all transfer window. But there’s been no concrete reports Rangers moved for the striker. Until now.

According to the London Evening Standard, Rangers were one of five clubs who moved for the England U21 starlet.

Jurgen Klopp clearly feels the versatile attacker is an important part of his squad for the season ahead. All of the clubs were rebuffed.

The other names mentioned include Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Lyon.

The right move for his development?

Klopp is clearly a big fan of Dominic Solanke, and wants him around the plethora of attacking talent at Liverpool’s disposal. This, undoubtedly, would aid Solanke’s development.

The likes of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri are all ahead of Solanke in the pecking order at Anfield, but they are all superb players.

It’s also a long season and Klopp obviously intends on using the 20-year-old youngster at some stage.

That doesn’t mean they don’t have concerns. Games are what Solanke needs to develop.

England U21 coach Aidy Boothroyd said: “I’m really pleased with Dom but I’m also a little bit worried about him because he is not getting the minutes and not getting the games.”

A January return on the cards?

Steven Gerrard is obviously the key player in any arrangement between Liverpool and Rangers. The Anfield legend can pull in a favour or two at the club. If he wasn’t in the Ibrox dugout, it’s unlikely Rangers would have moved for the player, let alone be in consideration.

Solanke is considered one of England’s brightest young attacking talents. Ex-Rangers striker Tore Andre Flo agrees.

If it turns out Jurgen Klopp doesn’t use the player as much as he would’ve liked, Solanke might be urged to move on.

A loan deal at a title challenging Rangers, with the world’s eyes watching, might be the perfect arrangement for both the Reds and the Blues.
