Rangers are set to miss out on Northern Irish teenage sensation Charlie Allen, with the youngster set to sign for Premier League new-boys Leeds United.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have beat off the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Rangers to secure the signing of the 16-year-old teenager.

The report claims that the attacking midfielder had a goodbye party in his hometown of Carrickfergus at the weekend as he prepares to make the move.

Allen was linked to Rangers in July 2019 by the Belfast Telegraph amongst a host of other British clubs as the young Ulster talent broke through into David Healy’s Linfield side.

The youngster became the Windsor Park club’s youngest-ever player after he came on as a 15-year-old in a 1-1 draw with Coleraine last April.

The move will come as a disappointment to Rangers fans as the club looked to secure one of the British Isles most promising footballers.

It’s not the first young Ulsterman who’s been linked to Ibrox and Rangers actually secured the future of midfielder Charlie Lindsay back in June.

Lindsay became the youngest ever player to play in the Northern Irish top-flight, making his debut with Linfield’s rivals Glentoran as a 15-year-old.

Lindsay was a month younger than Allen when he broke through into the Glentoran first-team.
