Last night’s Scottish Cup tie passed over without any major drama.
There was a controversial penalty award which drew the ire of fans, but in terms of the end result, it mattered little.

The Gers eased into the Fifth Round, setting up a tie away at Kilmarnock.
The Cowdenbeath tie did feature one particularly rare event, though.
A Lassana Coulibaly goal.
It doubled Rangers’ advantage in the 26th minute. After Jermain Defoe had a shot blocked, the Mali international pounced and steered the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

It was his first goal in four months and only his second in Rangers colours.
Before the Cup tie, the Angers loanee’s most recent strike came at home against Dundee on 15th September.
It should prove to be a real confidence booster for the 22-year-old.

He made a great impression with his early performances, but failed to consistently reach those heights as the first half of the season wore on.
With increased competition in midfield after this month’s window, he needs to kick on if he wants game time.
He made a start last night, with a fairly solid overall display.
Clearly, some Rangers fans were pleased to see him back among the goals.
