A quarantine period and a minor knee injury have held him back at various points and he’s made just four appearances to date, with his only start coming in a League Cup clash against Falkirk.

However, Steven Gerrard has confirmed the South Africa international will be named in the XI in Poland and he thinks he’s ready to grab his opportunity.

“As a new player in the team it takes time to understand the tactics and what the manager wants,” he said on Wednesday [RangersTV]. “But through training and the amount of game time I’ve been getting, I’m slowly but surely getting there.”

“I feel good, I’ve been training very well and I’m getting to understand what the manager’s demands of me, so I’m very excited for the game tomorrow.”

“We’re not going to take the game lightly.”

Plenty of Bears will be excited at how focused the club’s newest recruit appears to be ahead of what will be his biggest test since joining the club.

With progression to the Round of 32 already secured, a failure to win wouldn’t be disastrous for Rangers.

However, finishing top of Group D would be a major achievement for the club and there’s a financial aspect in play too.

Zungu may not be the only Ger making his first Europa League start in Poland, with a fellow summer signing set to be available despite picking up a knock against Ross County.
