Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas has joined Partick Thistle on loan.

The 20-year-old moves to the Scottish Championship club in a deal until the end of the season, and will link up with two former teammates at Firhill.

Barjonas represented the Gers first-team alongside Kenny Miller during the 2017/18 season, while he came through the Academy ranks with Zak Rudden, who himself signed for the Jags just last week.

This is the midfielder’s third loan stint away from Ibrox and it’s a step up in standard.

He spent the first half of the 2018/19 season with EFL League Two side Bury, where he found opportunities hard to come by, before joining SPFL League One outfit Raith Rovers for the second half of that campaign.

After playing Colts and Development team football over the first half of this season, it seems he’s looking forward to getting started.

Having signed a contract extension with Rangers in late October [Rangers.co.uk], Barjonas will be hoping to really make an impact at Firhill in order to show Steven Gerrard that he’s capable of adding to his nine competitive Gers appearances.

Thistle are currently second-bottom of the Championship but after strengthening considerably during this window, will be hoping to charge up the table over the coming months.

They are next in action on Saturday, when they travel to Arbroath for a 3 pm kick-off.
