Rangers boss Michael Beale has hailed Fashion Sakala after seeing some ‘electric’ signs from the attacker against Kilmarnock.

The Gers were back at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon as they looked to bounce back from last week’s Viaplay Cup final defeat.

A comfortable home win was required and that’s just what Rangers served up.

Connor Goldson, Fashion Sakala and James Tavernier were all on target in the first half to leave Rangers 3-0 up.

Killie pulled one back in the second half but it wasn’t enough to prevent Rangers from claiming another three points.

Beale will be pleased with that kind of reaction from Rangers and he seemed to be especially excited by Sakala’s display.

Beale spoke to the media after the final whistle and offered praise to right winger Sakala.

As quoted by Rangers Review, Beale suggested that Sakala had moments against Kilmarnock where he looked truly ‘electric’.

Beale suggested that a number of players were impressive against Killie with Ryan Kent and Antonio Colak making an impact.

Beale clearly liked what he saw from Sakala too, who added another goal to his tally with his first-half strike.

“We do need to improve moving forward, but first half I’d like to focus on the the good bits. I thought the midfield play well today,” said Beale. “I thought the no.9 played well. I thought that’s more like it from Ryan Kent, Fashion had his moments where he looked electric. In the main it was a a really comfortable performance outwith 15 minutes where I thought we were sloppy,” he added.

The problem with Sakala is right there in Beale’s praise.

Sakala looked electric in ‘moments’ rather than on a steady, consistent basis.

Rangers fans know how inconsistent Sakala can be and that hot and cold nature stops him from taking that next big leap.

The 25-year-old has managed five goals and six assists in 18 league games this season, which isn’t a bad record by any stretch of the imagination.

Yet it’s clear that Sakala can be so much more; his pace makes him a major threat and he currently appears to be a nailed-on first choice for Beale.

The end product needs to be improved though and Sakala can’t just show this quality in fits and starts if he wants to become a Rangers star.
