Rangers boss Michael Beale has praised Alfredo Morelos amid plenty of questions surrounding the striker’s future at Ibrox.

The last few weeks have been interesting for Morelos.

The Colombian scored against Celtic in the Viaplay Cup final but now finds himself stuck on the Rangers bench.

Antonio Colak has impressed Beale upon his return from injury and has nailed down a spot in the starting XI.

Morelos is having to make do with a substitute role – something Beale has admitted the striker isn’t happy about.

This comes against the backdrop of questions surrounding Morelos and his future at Rangers.

The 26-year-old is out of contract this summer and it looks like a parting of the ways is on the horizon.

Vamos Sevilla reported last week that Morelos has agreed to join Sevilla this summer – but that has since been played down.

Michael Beale praises Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

For now, Morelos must focus on getting back into the Rangers team and forget about his contact situation.

After all, suitors are more likely to come forward for him if he is playing regularly and scoring goals.

Beale has publicly asked Morelos to show a bit more in order to get his place back, but has today praised the striker.

Beale has been quoted by Rangers’ official Twitter account as saying that he feels, since his return as Ibrox boss, Morelos has been ‘fantastic’.

Beale claims that there is no issue at all with Morelos and some may be trying to force an issue between him and the striker.

“Since I have returned Alfredo has been fantastic, there have been no issues whatsoever and I think people sometimes try to force this. If you look at his goal involvement per game you can see his quality,” said Beale.

Rangers take on Motherwell this weekend and Morelos will be desperate to be in the starting XI – but he must prove to Beale that he deserves to take Colak’s spot.
