Rangers may soon be informed of a commitment to finish the Premiership season as the SPFL and the Premier League reportedly cooperate amid the global health pandemic.
On Wednesday night, the Scottish Sun claimed that SPFL chief, Neil Doncaster, would be briefed on the outcomes of an emergency meeting involving all 20 English Premier League clubs on Thursday morning before he himself held a similar meeting with Scottish clubs.

The inference was that the two bodies would adopt a similar response to the current challenges, in a kind of pan-UK effort.
Within that context, the Premier League released a joint statement via Twitter at 1 pm on Thursday afternoon, stressing that they, the FA, EFL and women’s professional game were all committed to efforts to resume and complete the current season ‘as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.’
They then announced an extension to their suspension of all professional football until at least 30th April.
It was a firm statement which avoided any mention of a null and void campaign, and instead focused on efforts to resume competitions for the sake of sporting ‘integrity.’
Given the alleged cooperation, Rangers may well see a similar position put forward by the Scottish authorities this afternoon.
Reading between the lines, there appears to be a sense of togetherness on this issue in England, but only time will tell as to whether or not that’s the case north of the border.
Football won’t be returning anytime soon, but there’s certainly a determination in some quarters not to give up on the 2019/20 season just yet.
