In today’s pre-match press conference, Steven Gerrard touched upon two controversial topics.
VAR and artificial pitches.
The standard of refereeing in Scotland has come under increasing scrutiny this season.
Rangers themselves have been on the wrong end of some dreadful calls. Although, on some occasions, the players only had themselves to blame for disciplinary issues.

However, ongoing tension between managers and officials culminated in an special SFA meeting last week.
Neil Lennon spoke on behalf of the managers and claimed afterwards that both parties were unanimously behind the introduction of VAR.
Today, Gerrard confirmed his support.
“I think the statistics tell you that VAR certainly helps the officials…get more big decisions right”, he explained.
“I am, for one, in favour of it.”
He also touched upon the artificial surface at Kilmarnock.

Clearly, he is less impressed with this relatively recent introduction to the game.
Jamie Murphy, damaged knee ligaments, during a replica of this fixture in the Scottish League Cup, back in August.
The winger is still on the treatment table, and back then, Gerrard blamed the surface.

“I have already gave my opinion in terms of plastic pitches at an elite level of football. They should be nowhere to be seen.”
Both of these topics have got certainly got people talking this season.
Do you agree with Gerrard’s views?
