The future of Rangers boss Philippe Clement is a hot topic of debate amongst Ibrox supporters.

The Belgian manager, 50, is a man under pressure after seeing his new-look Rangers squad fall nine points off the top of the Scottish Premiership.

With everything still to play for this season, there is plenty of time for Philippe Clement to save his skin at Ibrox but there are major questions over the ex-Club Brugge manager in the meanwhile.

And with Belgium now reportedly on the verge of sacking their manager, the Rangers gaffer is reportedly one of three options being assessed by the nation’s new sporting director.

Belgium considering Domenico Tedesco’s future

Belgium are considering a managerial change after a challenging few months for the star-studded national side.

With the Belgians crashing out of Euro 2024 at the Last 16 stage with defeat to France, the UEFA Nations League has been similarly underwhelming.

Finishing 3rd in UEFA Nations League 1 Group B, a 1-0 defeat to Israel could be the final straw for Italian-German manager Domenico Tedesco.

Yes Rangers fans, that’s the same Tedesco who was beaten by the Gers in the Europa League semi-final in 2022 whilst manager of RB Leipzig.

With the pressure mounting, Belgian attentions naturally turn to Philippe Clement who retains strong links to the country and, perhaps most significantly, one of their key executives.

Philippe Clement one of three Belgium options

Whilst Philippe Clement has committed to Rangers long-term, links to ex-Club Brugge CEO Vincent Mannaert have got plenty talking.

Not least journalists in Belgium, who have now named the ex-Genk and AS Monaco manager as being amongst the three frontrunners for the job.

Mannaert is just in the door in Brussels but may have to swing the axe with Clement reportedly one of the frontrunners for the Belgian manager’s gig.

Belgian outlet FootNews have now directly linked Rangers manager Philippe Clement to the Belgium job with Domenico Tedesco’s future on a knife-edge.

The report goes so far to say that Tedesco will be sacked with Mannaert already exploring three options to replace him.

With Rangers manager Philippe Clement the current frontrunner, former Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck has been named as an alternative.

But the 60-year-old is said to be apprehensive to give up what has is a more relaxed media career.

The other option said to be under consideration is 65-year-old Michel Preud’homme, the former Belgian goalkeeper who is now the sporting director at Standard Liege.

Also apprehensive to move out of his cushy position into the high-pressure life of Red Devils manager, it means Philippe Clement looks an increasingly interesting option.

But the Belgium national team will need to cough up if they want the Rangers manager with Clement contracted to Ibrox until 2028.
