During Thursday morning’s press conference, Steven Gerrard spoke about VAR, as captured by RangersTV.
Throughout this season, officials in Scotland have come under severe criticism.
There seems to be controversy just about every weekend.

Earlier in the campaign, the Rangers manager expressed his belief that anything that can assist the referees would be beneficial.
After the review system was called into action in the dying moments of Manchester United’s win in Paris on Wednesday evening, it’s once again a hot topic.

“It’s not nice when you’re on the wrong side of one (a VAR decision) like PSG last night, but I think it’s only going to improve the game”, said Gerrard as captured by RangersTV.
“Certainly up here in Scotland, I think VAR is the way forward. So hopefully, one day, we can get it into Scottish football. I think it would be a big help.”

“It would be very welcomed up here, certainly by myself. I think the percentage of getting decisions right goes as close to perfection…it certainly makes sense.”

As usual, no sitting on the fence from Gerrard here.
While it may be an expensive thing to roll out, surely if it’s possible, it must be brought in sooner rather than later.
One thing’s for sure, there would be less need for retrospective decision-making and the uproar that can cause. That can only be a good thing.
