Rangers manager Gerrard raves about Ryan Jack amid injury concern

Steven Gerrard has delivered major praise for Ryan Jack, as captured by RangersTV.

The 27-year-old has been a regular in the middle of the park for the Gers so far this season and recently earned a place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad.

However, he limped out of Rangers’ Europa League tie against Young Boys on Thursday and looks set for a stint on the sidelines.

Gerrard confirmed he is getting a scan tonight to establish the severity of the problem, but will definitely miss Sunday’s game against Hamilton. After providing the injury update, he then took the chance to praise his player.

Rangers manager Gerrard raves about Jack

“Ryan sets the example, he sets the standards,” said the Gers boss, as captured by RangersTV. “More often than not, he’s the strongest trainer.”

“He’s a winner and he takes his training level into games. He’s been one of my consistent players since I walked through the door.”

“So, we’re absolutely delighted with him. We’ve made him a contract offer, that we’re hoping will get signed up pretty soon and we’ve got our fingers crossed for this scan because he’s very very important for me.”

It’s been clear for some time that Jack is one of Gerrard’s most trusted lieutenant’s in this Rangers side.

16 appearances into the season and just as he was during 2018/19, former Aberdeen skipper has been near faultless.

He patrols the middle of the pitch so well for Rangers and is super efficient in possession.

Let’s hope that this injury concern only sees him miss Sunday’s league clash and the Scotland fixtures, and that he’s back in action in time for the trip to Hearts on 20 October.

Rangers have strength and depth, but in his consistency and his endeavour, Jack is unique.
