Outgoing Union Bears capo Ross McGill has been recognised by key Rangers figures as he steps down from his role with the club’s Ultras.
McGill announced heading into the Scottish Premiership match with Hibs that he would be stepping down from his role with the UB after being a familiar face on the Broomloan over the years.

“Sunday will be my final game as Capo in BF1,” tweets McGill.
“What a journey it’s been but it’s time for me to step down from this role. Been doing this for a long time and I won’t be able to attend matches as regularly.
“Thanks for so many amazing days & nights in the stands.”
A regular at the edge of the stand leading the club’s chants and driving the atmosphere inside Ibrox, Ross’ contribution over the club was recognised at the end of the game.
Rangers ran out 2-1 winners at Ibrox against Hibs in what could prove a pivotal moment in the title race and it was certainly a big game to bow out on.
Come the final whistle, Steven Gerrard headed over to the Union Bears section and was photographed alongside the group and Ross McGill.

McGill himself would then upload a picture of a signed Rangers jersey given to him by captain James Tavernier with a special message inscribed on the top.
In it, Tavernier gives thanks to Ross for his contribution to Ibrox and the support over the years in another nice touch by the club and the players.

All of this shows just how appreciated the contribution of Ross as the capo of the Union Bears has been over the years and whoever comes in to replace him has big boots to fill.
It’s not just Steven Gerrard or James Tavernier who’ve been applauding Ross either as the Ibrox club’s fans give their thanks for the McGill’s contribution over the years.
