Rangers summer signing, Joe Aribo, was outstanding against East Fife at the weekend.
The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes in the heart of midfield and despite the howling wind and artificial pitch, as usual, he looked at ease.
Aribo always looks to have time on the ball, never shies away from receiving or picking out a pass, and once again showed his prowess in front of goal.
We’re just over halfway through August and he’s already bagged four goals in a Rangers shirt. This latest strike came after a brief scramble in the hosts’ penalty area and when the ball broke to the midfielder, he prodded home instinctively.
After his outstanding display, Aribo received yet more glowing praise from his manager [RangersTV], while BT Sport duo Darrell Currie and Chris Sutton named him in their Team of the Week.

Yet, it seems he didn’t do enough to impress those at SPFL HQ.
Strangely, he was left out of the body’s official Team of the Week, with three lower league players preferred in midfield.
PJ Crossan scored in Dumbarton’s victory over Peterhead, while Cove Rangers’ Declan Glass scored twice against Cowdenbeath – both players got the nod in the middle. The final berth, somewhat bizarrely, went to Airdrie’s Craig Thomson. The 24-year-old failed to score and was booked in The Diamonds’ 3-1 win over Clyde, yet secured a spot in the XI.
Therefore, despite putting in what was almost certainly the most accomplished midfield performance in Scotland over the weekend, there was no room for Joe Aribo.
We doubt the player himself will get too worked up about it, but it does seem something of an injustice.
