Rangers winger Kai Kennedy was named Man of the Match for Raith Rovers as he turned in an inspired display for the Championship club in a 3-2 win over Hearts.

Kennedy, 18, joined Rovers on loan for the rest of the season after signing a new deal at Ibrox earlier in the month and following a successful loan spell with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the first half of the season.

And the impressive Kennedy picked up where he left off with an impressive display against the Jambos which helped to earn the Stark’s Park side an important victory.

The winger won a penalty for John McGlynn’s side with Rovers 1-0 up when he was brought down by Hearts defender Michael Smith.

Duku would convert the chance after Regan Hendry had missed one in the first half for Rovers with the team 1-0 up courtesy of a Gozie Ugwu strike.

Rovers would then go 3-0 up minutes later when a Reghan Tumilty strike gave Hearts a mountain to climb.

Liam Boyce would haul Hearts back into six minutes later but they couldn’t manage a second until Boyce netted again in the 93rd minute with little time left to salvage a draw.

 

According to the Athletic’s Jordan Campbell, the Rangers youngster was named Man of the Match for his performance.

Kennedy’s inclusion and performance in the match will please Rangers and their supporters who’re eager to see the young winger develop and break through into the Ibrox first-team upon his return.
