Rangers loanee Kieran Wright was the ‘penalty hero’ for Partick Thistle on Saturday afternoon, earning his side a bonus point after a 0-0 draw with Morton.
Wright and Gers academy defender, Rhys Breen, joined Thistle on a season-long loan deal in August and both are playing regularly, in part due to injuries sustained by Jamie Sneddon and Tam O’Ware.

Prior to this weekend, things hadn’t quite been going to plan, with Wright not managing to keep a clean sheet in any of his three League One appearances.
However, he was excellent against Morton at Firhill, keeping his team in the contest with four saves across the 90 minutes.
His reward was a first Jags shutout and the tie went to penalties with a bonus point up for grabs.
Perhaps buoyed by his saves earlier in the game, the Gers loanee excelled in the shootout, denying both James Wallace and Rabin Omar as the hosts triumphed 4-2.

After the game, the ‘penalty hero’ spoke to the Partick Thistle media team.
“Overall, I think it was a good battling performance from us today,” he said. “We’re obviously delighted to win the penalty shootout and to keep a clean sheet.”
“I know we’re out of the cup, but I just think if we can take this forward into the league, we can progress on for the rest of the season.”
As mentioned by Wright, the bonus point wasn’t enough to secure the Jags a spot in the Last 16 of the League Cup, as they finished third in Group G behind St Mirren and Queen of the South.
However, the league is the priority for the Maryhill club this season, as they try to recover from a lacklustre start to earn promotion at the first attempt following their controversial relegation to the third tier.
