He hasn’t quite made his mark in the Scottish Premiership as yet but he has excelled in the Europa League, producing eye-catching displays in both legs of the Round of 32 tie against Braga.

Amid the global health crisis, his future is up in the air, though.

Rangers have an exclusive option to buy the playmaker in the summer, but sporting director Ross Wilson says the club have yet to decide whether or not they will stump up the cash [Glasgow Times].

“Now I’m focused on being ready if the Scottish league returns,” he told Marca, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“That’s it. My future is handled by AC Talent. I love the style of play of La Liga, and I see myself playing there one day.”

Verdict

Although three goals and two assists in 12 appearances may not be the most spectacular individual statistics ever recorded by a Rangers player, Hagi has been one of the few positives of 2020 at Ibrox.

When the Gers were almost down and out in the first leg against Braga in February, it was he who started and completed the remarkable comeback.

Serie A club Lazio have been credited with an interest in his signature if Rangers opt against snapping him up [Scottish Sun], but it’s perhaps unsurprising that he sees himself playing in La Liga one day.

Hagi doesn’t have the pace and power many would associate with the Premier League, but he’s remarkably two-footed and has excellent vision, suggesting he would fit in well in the more technical Spanish top flight.

Bears will be hoping he sticks around in Glasgow and gets his hands on plenty of silverware before any move overseas, though.
