Rangers star Brandon Barker was hooked at half-time on his debut for Oxford United as their nine-game winning streak came to an end against Doncaster Rovers.
The English League One clash was a five-goal thriller which was edged by the Donny 3-2 with the result Oxford’s first defeat in 13 matches.
Barker, 24, started the match and would’ve been disappointed to firstly come off the pitch so early and secondly that his side never took anything from what was clearly a competitive game.
It’s not clear if the ex-Manchester City winger suffered an injury in the match.
Doncaster too went into the match on good form and goals from Jon Taylor, Fejiri Okenabirhie and Taylor Richards saw Doncaster make it nine wins out of 10 league matches.
Oxford’s goals were scored by Sam Long and Olamide Shodipo with the result leaving them in 11th in the English League One table.
Oxford manager Karl Robinson has previously expressed his delight at making the signing of Barker.
“Brandon’s an incredible talent – I’m really shocked we got this one done,” said Robinson [Oxford Mail].
“I didn’t think he was ever within our reach.
“Brandon was No 1 on our list, but the one we thought we weren’t going to get.
“In the last three or four days it escalated into a possibility.”
Barker himself has spoken positively about the move and has spoken about the role of a Rangers teammate in convincing him to move to the Kassam Stadium.
