Rangers loanee Jak Alnwick is facing an uncertain future, with injury ruling him out of Blackpool action as his Ibrox contract runs down.

The 26-year-old joined the Seasiders in the summer on a season-long loan deal, and he quickly established himself as the club’s no.1.

Remarkably, even by mid-December, he had played every minute of their EFL League One campaign, prompting manager, Simon Grayson, to hint that the club may look to turn his loan into a permanent deal [Blackpool Gazette].

However, less than a fortnight later, he suffered a broken arm in a Boxing Day fixture against Accrington Stanley.

Naturally, the serious injury ruled him out for a significant period of time and a return is still not imminent.

It’s a problematic scenario for the ex-Newcastle United stopper, with his future currently up in the air.

The injury came before any agreement could be put in place with Blackpool, who are hardly likely to be itching to sign up a crocked player. Meanwhile, as time ticks by, his Rangers contract runs down.

Alnwick’s deal expires in the summer and he’ll soon be officially leaving the club he joined back in 2017.

With under three months remaining in the EFL season, he’ll be hoping to get back to playing as quickly as possible.

If he can return for the final few weeks and prove his fitness, even if Blackpool decide against a move, he’ll be able to put himself in the shop window.
