Rangers have been linked with a cut-price move for Polish international striker Jakub Swierczok, who is currently plying his trade in Bulgaria with Ludogorets.
The 27-year-old forward has reportedly been identified as a potential striking option for the Gers after a successful loan spell back in his homeland with Piast Gliwice.
That’s according to newonce.sport, who claim that the three-times capped forward could be available for a cut-price £455k (€500k) deal.
However, Rangers will only get the opportunity to sign Swierczok if his current club do not fulfil an option-to-buy when his loan agreement ends come the end of the season.
This was confirmed by Piast sporting director Bogdan Wilk in comments picked up by the Daily Record.
“We still have a lot of time to decide on the possible purchase of Jakub from Bulgaria. We have to decide shortly before the end of the season,” said Wilk.
“Ludogorets have said it is not possible to transfer Swierczok in winter.”
The newonce.sport report also claims that any Rangers move for Swierczok could be dependent on the future of Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.
Striker Swierczok started his career with Polonia Bytom before being picked up by 1.FC Kaiserslautern in Germany.
After three years in Germany – with a loan spell with current club Piast Gliwice in between – the striker returned to his homeland where he would spend three years before moving to Ludogrets.
In that space of time, Swierczok would have spells at four different Polish sides, include GKS Tychy, the Polish side Mexican flop Carlos Pena would join after leaving Rangers.
Swierczok enjoyed three decent goalscoring seasons at nine-in-a-row Bulgarian champions Ludogrets, hitting 37 goals in 85 games with the club.

So far this season the Polish striker has five goals in eleven games, including four in his last four matches.
The links to Swierczok also come just as a leading Rangers figure – who is also the club’s top scorer – was linked with a January move to five Premier League sides.
