Rangers have been linked with a move for Turkish Super Lig star Aaron Boupendza but face stiff competition from the English Premier League for the Gabonese forward.

The third African striker to be linked with Ibrox ahead of the summer transfer window, according to 90min.com Hatayspor striker Boupendza is being watched by a number of clubs.

Amongst them include Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United, but Southampton, Leicester, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Old Firm rivals Celtic are also mentioned.

That report claims that Hatayspor want £8.5m for the striker in a price tag that may well be out of Rangers’ price range – unless one high-profile star is to move on the summer.

Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos, 24, has been back in the press this month talking about his “dreams” to move to the English Premier League [Radio Caracol].

That’s sparked plenty of talk regarding El Bufalo’s future with Rangers believed to value their prized asset at somewhere around £20m.

Boupendza, 24, would represent a bold replacement should the Colombian international move on in the summer but the Gabonese striker has impressed in Turkey.

The versatile forward – who can play across the front line – has netted 18 goals in 26 games this season in what is regarded as a competitive division.

Boupendza also has 13 caps and three goals for the Gabonese national team and the links to the striker come after high-profile reports concerning KV Oostende’s Fashion Sakala and Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga.

However, whilst Morelos might once again be talking up the Premier League the comments of an Ibrox director suggest the Gers hold all the aces when it comes to his future.
