Rangers-linked Benjamin Siegrist impressed against Partick Thistle in Dundee United’s 1-0 victory in the Scottish Cup as the future of Allan McGregor is still up in the air.
The Ibrox side has been linked [DailyMail] with the Swiss goalkeeper as a possible replacement for McGregor, although there appears to be interest from Southampton and also interest from abroad.

The goalkeeping scenario at Rangers is looking precarious ahead of next season, although John McLaughlin has signed a new contract, his teammate and fan favourite McGregor has yet to commit to a new deal, with many believing this will be his final season at the club.
Benjamin Siegrist continues to impress as Rangers eye up replacement
Siegrist starred for Dundee Utd in their Scottish win at the weekend, making a host of fine saves as the side held on for a narrow win to reach the Quarterfinals. The goalkeeper was voted player of the match by BBC Sport.
With the likelihood of McGregor finishing up his playing career at the end of this season and Jon McLaughlin a more than suitable replacement, there is scope for another keeper to join the Ibrox ranks and provide competition.
Robby McCrorie is also in the first-team squad, and after impressing against Celtic – in which he was thrust into the starting XI due to a Covid outbreak depleting the squad – he hasn’t had a sniff since.
With Giovanni van Bronckhorst planning for the future by signing John Souttar on a pre-contract deal, then the same should be done for Siegrist, as his current deal expires at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old would be a welcome addition to the squad and provide plenty of competition for the number 1 jersey next season, if McGregor leaves that is.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund has sent Rangers a social media message following their recent Bundesliga victory.
