18-year-old Mohanad Ali has drawn quite a lot of interest through his goalscoring exploits.
The striker has already accumulated eight international strikes and had an excellent start to the 2019 Asian Cup.
He netted Iraq’s opening goals in their first two group stage matches, against Yemen and Vietnam.

Those performances ramped up transfer speculation.
Currently, the teenager plays his club football for Al-Shorta in Iraq’s top tier.
Yet, some of the biggest names in European football are now rumoured to be after his signature.

According to Football Insider, Rangers are one of those interested parties.
Ali’s agent even felt moved to make a statement, saying that the player would take his time before making any decisions on his future.
However, since then, there has been a drop off in form.

If he is feeling the pressure of all the scrutiny and speculation, few could blame him,
Firstly, he failed to make an impact in his country’s 0-0 draw with Iran last Wednesday, and was substituted.
Today, he also drew a blank. This time, in a defeat against Qatar.

He played the full 90 minutes this time, but only emerged with a booking to show for his efforts.

The result brings Iraq’s participation in the competition to an end.
With no more chances to impress, has Ali shown enough to earn a move to Rangers, or another European giant?
