Rangers-linked free-agent midfielder Jack Wilshere is officially training with English Championship side Bournemouth as he steps up his hunt for a new club.

Rangers have been routinely linked with a move for the ex-England international midfielder ever since Wilshere was released from his contract at West Ham in October.

Dubious reports had claimed there were discussions between both parties but nothing concrete has since materialised.

Wilshere, 28, even claimed he’d consider a move to Rangers whilst he was out training in Dubai – even if he claimed Ibrox wouldn’t be his first choice [Dubai Eye].

But now Bournemouth have taken to their official website to announce that the midfielder is training with the club he spent half a season on loan in 2016/17 before once again being struck down by injury.

“AFC Bournemouth can confirm that former loanee Jack Wilshere is currently training with Jason Tindall’s first-team squad,” reads a Bournemouth statement.

“The midfielder, who made 27 appearances for the Cherries in 2016/17, is keeping up his fitness levels while he is without a club.

“Wilshere left West Ham in October and last featured for the Hammers in their Carabao Cup victory over Hull City in September.”

Nothing in this would suggest that the Cherries are preparing a move for the player but it shows the midfielder is eager to prove his fitness ahead of the January transfer window.

With two Rangers midfielders currently on the treatment table and no clear picture of when they’ll return, it’ll certainly have one or two Gers fans once again asking the question over a move for the ex-Arsenal man.
