Former Rangers target Lewis Ferguson has paid tribute to the Ibrox atmosphere – even if it’s just a tad behind the San Siro.
Ferguson may be playing for Bologna but his name will always be tied to Rangers.
His father Derek and uncle Barry both racked up the appearances for Rangers during their playing days.
Ferguson started his career in the Rangers ranks and has regularly been linked with a return to Ibrox over the years.
The Scottish Sun reported back in May of 2020 that Steven Gerrard had identified then-Aberdeen midfielder Ferguson as a key target.
Rangers didn’t make their move and agent Bill McMurdo has even told the Daily Record that people inside Ibrox were baffled as to why the Gers weren’t signing Ferguson.
Rangers have missed the boat now; Ferguson is shining in Italy with Bologna and is worth millions more than the Gers can pay.

Lewis Ferguson hails Ibrox atmosphere
Ferguson will still have Rangers close to his heart and, who knows, maybe he will end up joining the Gers later in his career.
The midfielder – who is in the Scotland squad for games against Cyprus and Turkey – has now offered his thoughts on Ibrox.
Ferguson has told The Scottish Sun that the San Siro – the home of AC Milan and Inter Milan – is ultimately the best stadium he has played in so far.
The 23-year-old noted that Ibrox is ‘amazing’ and does have an ‘incredible’ atmosphere, but it just doesn’t quite match up to the San Siro ‘wow factor’.
“The San Siro’s the best I’ve played in, I don’t know, there’s just something different,” said Ferguson. “I’ve played at Celtic Park and Ibrox when it’s full, and they are amazing, the atmosphere is incredible. I’ve played at Hampden when it’s full, but I don’t know if it’s because it’s a foreign stadium and a foreign atmosphere it’s different.”
“It’s such an iconic stadium as well. You don’t realise how big it is until you’re inside and you come through the long tunnel. When you come out the steps and onto that pitch it gives you the sort of wow factor,” he added.
Ferguson has no doubt experienced Ibrox many times, both as a player and with his family ties, and it would be a shame if he does experience it as a Rangers player one day down the line.
