Rangers legend Ally McCoist led the celebrations as the Ibrox side reached the Europa League Final.
The club’s greatest ever goal scorer was assistant manager the last time the Gers reached this stage of European competition and was on BT Sport duties as the club reached the showpiece in Seville.
Set to face off against Eintracht Frankfurt after overcoming two German outfits in Dortmund and RB Leipzig en route to the final, you’d be a brave man to bet against us taking a third Bundesliga scalp.
But the celebrations of Super Ally – where the happy-go-lucky pundit is seen by his own admission “buzzing” as Ibrox partied – are symbolic of how much it means to every, single Rangers fan.
Ally McCoist celebrates Europa League Final trip like every, single Rangers fan
Ally McCoist not only stood beside Walter Smith on the touch line in Manchester, but he was at the helm when the club collapsed financially in 2012.
Say what you like about our progress in the years proceeding this, but Ally was there when many others weren’t and plenty have claimed his attitude is a big part of what pulled us through.
One of the most important and significant figures in our history, one of our greatest ambassadors, to see Ally McCoist revel in the moment like everyone of us was in his words “unbelievable”.
McCoist spoke poignantly at Walter Smith’s service in Glasgow at the tail end of last year and the striker shared plenty of moments with Jimmy Bell too.
Rangers royalty in his own right, Ally McCoist has been on the journey with us and after 11 long difficult years, the joy of seeing Rangers secure a spot in the Europa League Final was just rewards for his, and our, unwavering loyalty to the club.
And a special tribute to those we and especially Ally McCoist have lost.
Meanwhile, one of the club’s stand-out stars has been compared to a £27m-rated Premier League hero.
